Hey designs, atheism killed 100 million in the 20th century alone. And just because calvinists killed someone, doesn't mean that Calvin killed them.

Most-Ignored Scriptures by JWs
by Mad Sweeney inthe watchtower has been known for over 130 years as a great scriptural cherry-picker.
they pick out disparate unrelated verses and combine them to support the wackiest of wacky doctrines.. on the other hand there are many scriptures they almost never address, whether because they contradict wt doctrine or because they simply don't have a clue what they mean or how to spin them to the wt advantage.. one of these is revelation 19:1 that mentions a "great crowd" "in heaven.
" the only time it is ever brought up it is dismissed.

I had a pair of smirking idiot at my door one time. I had stumped a regular Dubber that had stopped previously. So, they sent in a ringer. Therefore, I switched the question. I asked the Smirks, "Can you show me where in the Bible it says transfusions and eating blood are the same thing?" After 4 attemps, they admitted they couldn't. BUT! They would rather be safe then sorry! I told them that they had nothing to offer then closed the door.
I have no use for an organization that would force its members to kill their own children just because maybe Jehober doesn't like it. The Bible clearly condemns the sacrifice of children. Dubbers attitudes are the same as those that sacrificed children to Molech - "Wow, Jon and Susie are sooo dedicated they put Jehober/Molech before their own children! They will surely be blessed!"

My Dubber family were going to show up at a picnic today, but backed out because they had to do "service". The picnic starts at 1 but I guess they don't want to be rude and show up late. What they don't realize is that they are ensuring that no other family wants to join. Hmmm... there are going to be two extra steaks.

Looks like "scholar" did another hit and run. Trying to pin him down on something is like trying to nail pudding to a wall.

Need help picking an engagement ring
by Cagefighter inladies please weigh in.... i am seriously thinking about buying an engagment this summer.
first, we are both early 30's make about the same roughly (50k) a year.. i am thinking getting a decent quality diamond .90 carat on a platinum ring... seems to be about $3800-4500k price wise.. please be honest..... i saw the ring her x gave her.. it was yellow gold with a white gold top where some side stones were and a .66 to center stone was set that was a "gift".
granted she picked it out.. 1. my ring must be way better than the one her x gave her.. 2. i won't propose without a ring so taking her to pick on out is not an option.

Be sure you know what SHE wants. Window shop until you know her tastes. I wanted to get my bride-to-be a huge rock. She wanted a smaller one. She felt that the huge one was too big for her hand. So, I got her a smaller, yet higher quality, diamond.
I bought the ring some time after we had last looked at them. She was floored! If shopping does ruin the surprise, just remember that the surprise would only last a few minutes. The ring will (hopefully) last the rest of her life.

A better way of doing it, with regards to the 'God' question. If you're a theist or deist, please answer this question.
by Psychotic Parrot inwhy are you a theist or a deist?
please give any or all reasons why without resorting to a god of the gaps argument.
that is the only condition i am making, since in my (& presumably every other atheist's) opinion, a god of the gaps argument simply isn't convincing enough to demonstrate that there is a god, only that there might be a god.. thank you.. p.s.

What is your problem? I am giving you honor by telling it as I see it. What could be more honorable than that?

From what you have written, you don't recognize God's activities as it is. Why should he give you more? If you wish to dishonor God, He is not going to stop you. But don't expect favors in return.

by chicken little inwe were always told not to throw away literature, so just what did we do with it all?
i know that i would sneak it into the bin for recycling quite regularly.
my parents kept all the magazines for over 20 years in ritz boxes in a cupboard, they all went yellow and smelt wierd.

Have you ever noticed how similar the Society is to a Multi-Level Marketing Business?
by SAHARA inmaybe this discussion has already taken place on this forum, or maybe some of you may scoff at this observation as just stating the obvious, but i think it may be worth while to post this for those of you who have yet to discover this paralell.
i was involved in a mlm business in the insurance industry from 1993 - 2000. this life insurance agency was started in 1977 by just a few individuals and had grown by recruiting average working class people to become part-time sales agents and sold them the american dream.
in just a few years time, this agency entered every state and grew into a sales force of roughly 200,000 people, part time and full timers, and by 1984 had become the #1 seller of life insurance in the country for approximately 15 years straight.

I spent 7 years in Amway. After I left, a relative of mine joined the Dubbers, I started researching cults. It sent chills down my spine. Amway is a cult just as the Dubbers or Mormons are.
